Pokémon offers us a strange look at the new Battle System of Legends Arceus

During the Pokémon Exhibition Presents last week, it was revealed that Legends Arceus is ready to introduce a welcome change in the long-standing and criminally obsolete battle system of the series. While the tricks such as megas and gigantamaxing have been added regularly for two decades, the Pokémon Central Battle System has been maintained virtually unchanged from Ruby & Sapphire of 2002. As a result, it is refreshing to see Game Freak finally trying to shake a little Things, hit the tree out of New Bark Town, so to speak.

Pokémon: Legends Arceus is implementing a new version of the combat with the introduction of two different battle styles: strong style and agile style. The first allows you to hit stronger at the expense of speed, while the second is designed to run multiple successive techniques to jump over your opponent. Given the intriguing that this is, at least conceptually, it is disappointing to know that Legends Arceus, it is reported, will not present a competitive scene. However, in a strange way, these alternative styles have been part of Pokémon TCG during three successive expansions now, the most recent one of which is thrown today. While they are not necessarily new in the collection card game, their inclusion in Legends Arceus makes them retroactively, and currently, even more fascinating.
